Pitcher to right fielder — where everyone stands and what they're there for.
The rule: Know your spot, and know which base is yours to cover.
The battery
The pitcher and catcher touch every play.
The pitcher throws from the mound in the middle. The catcher crouches behind home plate. Every pitch is theirs — and when a ball is tapped softly in front of the plate, they turn into fielders too.
The infield
Four infielders guard the dirt.
First baseman near first, second baseman between first and second, shortstop between second and third, third baseman by third. Ground balls are their whole world.
The outfield
Three outfielders patrol the grass.
Left field, center field, right field. They catch fly balls and chase down hits that sneak through the infield — then fire the ball back in before runners take extra bases.
Cover & back up
Nobody just stands there.
When the ball is hit, every fielder moves: someone fields it, someone covers a base, someone lines up to relay the throw. Watch an infielder slide out to help on a ball to center.
The pitcher is a fielder too.
